I still have trouble knowing who is what as far as the toons go.  Is there an addon that will tell my druid something like: elvin disc priest or human hunter etc?

Most tooltip addons will do that. I know TipTac does for sure. And I use Prat, but other chat addons probably have a colour coding system for people's names. Then you just have to remember 10 colours instead of hundreds of people.
